Company History
1986
Static Control Components is founded in the basement of Ed Swartz’s home in Sanford, North Carolina, USA. Established as a distributor/ manufacturer of customised electrostatic protection packaging products.
1987
Santronics, sister company of Static Control, begins in-house manufacture of original AC Voltage Sensor.
1988
Production of electrostatic bags starts. The company begins shipping toner cartridge packaging products.
1989
The company is organised into three business units: Electro Static Discharge Division (packaging products); imaging Division (toner cartridge products); and Santronics (AC Voltage Sensor).
1994
The European office is established by Steve Weedon, CEO of Static Control Components (Europe) Ltd.
1995
ESD Division in Europe is consolidated into a separate department, headed by Phillip Fowler.
1997
A sales office is opened in Belgium. The company is awarded ISO 9002 accreditation.
1998
Static Control embarks on the development of products for colour toner cartridges.
2000
The FastTrack Supplies programme, supplying finished cartridges to remanufacturers, is launched. Static Control is awarded ISO 14001 accreditation.
2002
Static Control launches its first smartek chip.
2003
Static Control Components (Europe) Ltd wins the Queen’s Award for International Trade.
2004
The US 6th Circuit Court of Appeals rules in favour of Static Control in the lawsuit brought by Lexmark.
2005
A warehouse facility is opened in Johannesburg in South Africa. The company forms a distribution partnership in Dubai, UAE.
2006
Recognising Static Control as the technology leader in this field, 3M® Corporation purchases the ESD Division.
2007
An overwhelming jury verdict affirms Static Control’s right to sell Lexmark® chips.
2008
Introduction of the revolutionary CTL Replenishment System™ allowing customers to reuse OEM and aftermarket drums. More than 1,000 remanufacturers now use this system.
