Polyurethane doctor blades both regulate the amount of toner available on the magnetic developer roller, and help electrically charge the toner so that it properly develops the image on the OPC drum. Their surface finish, hardness and dimensional accuracy are all critical to proper functioning. New Canon® /HP 1200 dpi Ultraprecise imaging systems feature a totally new doctor blade design. This design is similar to moulded profile wiper blades with a reduced thickness and tapered contact edge. Significantly different is the use of silicone for the blade member. Static Control has developed several solutions for this technology including the new Odyssey® HP4000/HP2100 doctor blades, featuring polyurethane material composition.
